World and Main's roots date back to 1971 with the founding in Brooklyn of the Howard Berger Company (HBC Home & Hardware Products). In 1998 the company opened its Wuxi, China office, giving it deep sourcing capabilities from over 1,200 factories. Hardware Holdings, LLC was created in 2013 and has subsequently made a series of strategic acquisitions including The Faucet Queens, Inc. and WordLock, Inc. In 2015, Hardware Holdings changed its name to World and Main to reflect its ongoing evolution to a leading national distribution company operating at the intersection where distribution and sourcing meets merchandising and product development. In 2018, World and Main merged with Shur-Line and Bulldog, further expanding the company's footprint in the paint and hardware categories.
